Barbara Stegmann, M.D.
Barbara Stegmann is the Reproductive Endocrinologist who will work directly with our patients seeking fertility services to help them start a family. Working closely with our Lab Director, she will plan and oversee the entire fertility process, maintain a relationship with our patient’s OB/GYN, and carry out Aspire’s mission to create a better fertility experience for each and every patient.
Dr. Stegmann is highly accomplished with a medical degree, triple Masters Degrees, a PhD, and a tour of duty as a flight surgeon in Operation Desert Storm. She has been practicing medicine for almost 20 years, and specializing in Women’s Health for the past 15. Dr. Stegmann is internationally recognized as an expert in infertility and reproductive medicine.
Dr. Stegmann earned a combination Medical Doctorate/Bachelors of Arts in Biology from the University of Missouri and went on to complete her Medical-Surgical Internship at the Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. She completed a Residency in Aerospace Medicine at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, where she was awarded her Masters of Science in Aerospace Medicine. She went on to become the Chief Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Phoenix Integrated Residency in Phoenix, Arizona.
From there, Dr. Stegmann completed a Fellowship in the Research Triangle Program for Training in Epidemiology and Clinical Trials at the North Carolina Program for Women’s Health Research, where she was awarded a grant from the National Institute of Health. While there, she also earned her Masters in Public Health. She also completed a Combined Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Stegmann went on to become an NIH funded scholar at the University of Iowa, where she earned her Masters of Science in Translational Biomedicine. Immediately following, she earned her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Iowa’s College of Public Health.
Dr. Stegmann‘s broad experience includes teaching, research and varied clinical /operational medical positions. Just prior to joining Aspire, Dr. Stegmann served as the Director of Clinical Research in Women’s Health at Merck Pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Stegmann has published over 40 articles in numerous professional organizations, including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She is highly lauded with awards/honors/commendations including Distinguished Graduate, University Scholar, Special Excellence in Endoscopic Procedures and Military Commendation. Dr. Stegmann is Board Certified in OB/GYN, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Aerospace Medicine. She is a Diplomate with the National Board of Medical Examiners. She also served six years in the US Military as Captain, USAF Flight Surgeon.
As a reproductive specialist, I recognize that most of us expected fertility to be a ‘given’ when we were ready to parent.
